GENERAL

  • Aquatic Network (AquaNet)  provides information on a broad range of aquatic topics, including aquaculture, conservation, education, fisheries, marine science and oceanography, maritime heritage, ocean engineering, and seafood.  The Aquatic Network includes databases, news, articles, employment and business opportunities, publications, an online store, and a products/services directory.
  • American Fisheries Society (AFS).  The American Fisheries Society and its various divisions, chapters, sections, and committees are currently supported by over forty Internet web sites.  This site also provides links to a number of aquaculture and fishery sites outside the AFS,
  • FAO Fisheries Statistics.   Provides a wealth of information on global fisheries statistics, and miscellaneous documents on the status and prospects for capture fisheries. There are also links to fisheries software developed by the FAO.
  • National Biological Survey.  The National Biological Survey is now offering electronic "selective dissemination of information" packages, or SDI (not related to strategic defense initiative, apparently) based on databases in the Wildlife/Fisheries Review. Scope is primarily wild vertebrate biology, ecology, management, and related disciplines. This SDI is designed to help natural resource managers and researchers stay abreast of the current published literature. There are four SDI packages: wetlands; endangered and threatened species; contaminants; and aquaculture. Each month, subscribers automatically receive the SDI package(s) they select. For more information, contact T. Sexson, NBS, at 303-226-9401, ext. 236, <sexsont@mail.fws.gov>.

FishPass.org (formerly FishPass mail list) is a website sponsored as a project of the Bioengineering Section of the American Fisheries Society with support from Oregon State University.

There are now several forums on a variety of topics related to fish passage and beyond. These are free unmoderated forums for professional discussion of the biological and engineering science of upstream and downstream fish passage. Areas of discussion include fish passage technologies, projects, swimming capabilities and behavior and biological and engineering studies and events. There are currently about 500 registered users from more than 20 countries.

To subscribe, go to: http://fishpass.org/
